STEM workshops and employability sessions for schools in Swansea.
The Hwb Collective develops practical sessions that connect designing, making and problem-solving with the skills young people need to describe in a CV, application or interview. Current delivery is arranged as a clearly scoped pilot or partnership rather than a fixed catalogue of identical workshop days.
Possible session components
A practical brief, a real outcome and evidence learners can explain.
The exact content is agreed with the partner. A pilot may use one component or connect several into a longer experience.
Make, model or demonstrate
Depending on the venue and equipment, the session may include physical prototyping, 3D design, 3D printing demonstrations or structured model-making.
Test and improve
Learners review an outcome, notice what did not work and identify a realistic improvement using evidence rather than guesswork.
Turn activity into employability evidence
The final reflection helps learners identify planning, teamwork, accuracy, communication, resilience and problem-solving they can use in applications.
Who the sessions are for
Schools, colleges, youth services and community organisations.
Sessions are most naturally suited to secondary-age learners, post-16 groups and young adults, although the appropriate age range depends on the activity, group support and venue. The commissioning organisation remains central to participant support and local safeguarding arrangements.
We are based in Mumbles and prioritise realistic opportunities in Swansea. Enquiries from Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, Bridgend and other South Wales areas are considered where travel, staffing and delivery arrangements are workable.
How a pilot is agreed
Five steps before delivery is promised.
Understand the group
Age, prior experience, support needs, approximate numbers and intended outcomes.
Check the setting
Venue, access, supervision, equipment, power, internet access and practical constraints.
Agree safeguards
Roles, consent, accessibility, risk controls, data handling and emergency arrangements.
Confirm the activity
A written scope describes what will be delivered, what the host provides and how success will be evidenced.
Pricing and availability
Current pilots are quoted individually.
There is not yet a standard public day rate because the practical requirements vary significantly. A short digital-tool demonstration is different from a fully facilitated practical activity requiring equipment, materials, travel and additional staffing.
After receiving the basic details, The Hwb Collective can confirm whether the request is suitable and provide a clear written proposal. Funded or partner-supported opportunities will be labelled honestly and separately from paid commissioning.
